Coke Bottle experamint

Can you inflate a balloon inside a coke bottle? We did an experiment to find out.

Hypothesis
I think that it will work because when there is a hoil (If there is) all the air will come out and the balloon will have enough air to move.

What to use
  • 2 liter Coke bottles
  • Balloon
  • scissors

Liam did a demo version of how it would work. We had a go at blowing up the coke bottle with no hole and it didn’t work. I got to have a turn and it was really hard and my cheeks turned red. When you have a hole the size of a pin you can blow it up and when you take it out the balloon should stay pumped up because when you put the hole in all the chemicals and the air will come out then there is enough room for it to blow up the balloon a quarter up. With the little one it is the exact same as the big one when you put the hole in. With the big one and it has no hole  it will shrink in lease then a second.

Conclusion
So when you do it make sure you have a hole in the bottle and the balloon is pumped up and you seal it.

Hair-pong

Hair-pong

You need!
1 hair dryer, 2 ping pong balls

Methed

We used the tools and the question was can a hair dryer balance 1 ping pong ball and it can because the gravity was trying to push it down but the hair dryer had enough strength to push it up and stay. When we tried to use 2 they keep hitting each other and one fell of.

Science

Write an explanation that explains clearly to the reader

include title and intro that states your topic and maybe asks a question

include a summary statement that links with the introf

Write the body of the text in order using some of the key words - Suggest the sequence of the experiment  clearly - firstly, after that finally.

Include some topic-specific science vocab

Show how the process happens by using continuous present tense?  This will mean using lots of ‘is’ and ‘are’

What happens when air is heated? Well I can tell you that. Miss Roil told us to make a prediction and we did and I will tell you the answer but not yet. In my paragraphs I will have What you need, What you do, Particles and conclusion.

You will need 2 coke bottle two balloons 1 bucket of hot water and 1 bucket of cold water. You put the balloon on top of the bottle so they can be immersed in the water. Then you are all set to put the bottle in.

You hold and place the bottle in the water. If you put it in hot water (but you might get burnt) the particles will move and the balloon will pump up and when to goes in the cold it starts deflating. You can also avoid getting burnt by putting on some decent gloves.

Particles are moving in the  bottle and forcing their way into the balloon.   They do this when they are heated. Without particles we would not have wind.   Wind is made when the air heats up and starts to move.  The bottle that didn’t heat stayed in a state of inertia.  This means it didn’t change.
If you ever want to do this make sure you have everything you need and have some gloves. Oh and by the way the answer to the question is that the particles in it start to move and it expands.

Rugby

RUGBY
I chose rugby over pizza because rugby is fun and anyone can play it. People will give me questions and I will respond to them in a small paragraph saying what I would like to be and what else I would rather do in the great game of rugby.

1. What sport  would you do instead of rugby ?-Crystal.

2. What rugby team do you wish to play for-John.

3. Where are you hoping your rugby career will go?- Rhys.

4. When you are older will you become a rugby player? Charlotte.

5. Do you wish to take a career? and be an All Black?-Georgia.

Rugby is my favourite sport because it is really active and a bit dangerous but my second option would be Cricket because it can be really fun when you get people out.  It feels really great and you also get to have a bat.

Maybe if I get to chose a super 15 team it would probably be the Crusaders because they are a good team with a lot of team spirit and they play to the rules without arguing if they don't think thats illegal they just carry on.

Some time in my life if I do get a rugby career like being a Magpie or an All Black player I would like to travel around New Zealand and the rest of the world because you get quite a lot of fans and they always cheer you on.

I would like to be a professional rugby player because you would make very good mates and you get a great atmosphere as all players do.

Yes I would because it would be really cool representing my country in a game of rugby. My family will be very proud as they always are and it would be really cool.

This report will explain why you should go to Alaska for your holiday and instead of New Zealand because Alaska has more amazing things. I am going to try and persuade you by the history, animals and scenery.

Alaska was found on 15th of July by Aleksa Chirikov. On March 30th. In 1876 the U.S purchased Alaska from the Russian Empire for 7.2 Million! dollars.
The Alaska flag was made by a 13 year old boy named Benny Benson and it is blue with 8 stars. Alaska can go below -78 degrees.
Alaska state song!  Here is a link to Alaska's state song. Heres the link.

The king Salmon has been the state fish of Alaska since 1955 and is 1000 years old which is pretty long. Willow ptarmigan has been the state bird of Alaska since 1955. Sometimes it changes light brown to a light snowy white at certain times of the year.  Kodiak Bear way 1,400 and are 11 feet tall. Polar Bear way 1,400 pounds and are 12 feet tall. Grizzly Bears, (Brown bears) weigh 1,800 pounds and are 11 feet tall. Mosse way 1,350 are 11 feet tall and their antlers are 72 inches high.

There are over 130 volcanoes in Alaska and 80 percent of them can erupt any time. Alaska is one of the biggest states in America.  I think you should go to Alaska because you can see all of the Amazing animals like the Moose bears Willow ptarmigan and more like the lovely view. Wolf in the wardrobe

Wolf in the wardrobe is written by Susan Brocker.
If you are looking for a book with mysteries and problems this is the book for you.
This book is about a wolf that was at a circus and a boy saw what the clown was doing to him.

The characters are Finn, Eva (his nana), Pam, Finns Mum, his best friend and last but not least Cackles. The problem was that Finn wanted to take the wolf Lupa to America to be with all her own kind and find a partner so she can have her baby wolves.

Cackles started sending emails to Finn saying ‘Cackles is watching you’ and that gave Finn the creeps. Finn found Lupus’ collar and it had diamonds, gems, rubies and more! Just to double check, Finn took the collar to the jewelry shop. Finn found out that it was worth thousands of dollars.

My holiday

During the holidays I went to my batch in Porangahau with my family where and we have got a batch. On Monday me and my Mum went down to the beach to get some paua, Kinna, Bobo and some seaweed for my Nana because she loves her sea food. So we set off to get some food. In about 20 minutes we had 8 Kinna.  later on I found a legal size paua.

I was so shocked because I haven't got a paua in a year. After we had a look for some Bobos.  We found a rock full there was so many I didn't know what to say, I yelled out hey Mum! and she came over, and we got 36 Bobos altogether.1 hour later my Mum saw a paua and she didn’t want to get it so she got me and told me to get the paua and I got it. We had another look and we found 6 more kinna I was extremely grateful that I got some food for my Nana. That was the end of our day so we got some seaweed for her soup. We went back home and we washed all of our gear down.

Ripper rugby Reflection

Ripper rugby Reflection

On Thursday 27 of June some kids went to a park and played Ripper rugby representing our school. That day are first game was against Irongate, the ref was a bit shaky though. Irongate were leading at halftime and the score was 2-0 to Irongate I was a bit bummed out though. It was the second half and I was really pumped and ready to go again, in the first 35 seconds we scored the first try. We went back to halfway and Irongate started with the ball. Irongate taped it and then passed the ball, then they suddenly dropped the ball we all saw it as a opportunity to pick up the ball and score. Renee got the ball and outran everyone on the other team by heaps and that made the score 2-2. We went back to halfway and Irongate tapped the ball then we all missed his tag and they scored a try which made the score 3-2. There was 5 minutes left and the score ended up being 4-4.

The next school we faced was Ma-hora and the first half we were winning 5-0. We were in the second half and we concertedly keeped scoring tries and it ended up being 11-0. In our third match we faced Frimley we won 6-0. In our fourth math we faced firmly again! and we won 7-0. Then are last game we had a by. We went in the semi final against the other Parkvale team and it nerve wracking. at halftime it was 1-0 to us. Then after that it was full time and the score was 3-2 to us but one of Sams try was disallowed because he was defending. So we went into extra time and I scored a good try and we won 3-2. We lost the finals against Te-mata 3-5.

Canoe Polo report

On Sunday 7th of July, Parkvale 1 and Parkvale 2 both went to Flaxmere pools to play the semifinals against each other. We all waited for 5 minutes and it was full time then it was our turn to play. There was 15 seconds until play, we were all lined up in the water with our canoes and off we went. The buzzers went of it was all on, Parkvale 1 got the ball and threw it to Jack and they got a goal. We all went back to halfway and the buzzer went off again, Parkvale 1 again got the ball and threw it to Jack and they scored once again. Once again we went to half way, it started play but straight away the hooter went off.

It was the second half and we changed ends and lined up again. The buzzer went off and Parkvale 2 got the ball. Camron had the ball and I yelled out I am open so he passed it to me and I got a goal I was really happy. We all went back to halfway and we marked a player each. Parkvale 1 started with the ball, Jack passed  it it was just a bit short!, I got the ball my canoe was floating up towards the goal I took the shot and I got it then it was full time. We had to go into extra time because there can only be one winner and that one team goes into the grand final. We both swapped sides for the third time, the ref threw the ball in the water and Parkvale 1 got the ball, Henry threw the ball to Jack,  he had a go and Ethan saved the goal we were so relieved at the time. Ethan threw the ball to me and I passed it to Cameron, I said I am going long so he threw the ball to me. Parkvale 1 was already there they were so quick I looked at the goalkeeper and I took the shot we won! I shouted we won and that was full time and the score was 3-2 to Parkvale 2.

20 minutes later it was the final. In the first half Frimley was winning 3 to nil. It was the second half and we got a goal straight away and that made the score 3-1. 2 minutes later we scored a goal and that 2-3 with 2 minutes left. Then Frimley scored a goal and I was gutted with I minute to go. The ref threw the ball in the water and we got the ball and we just scored with 2 seconds left and that made it 3-4 to Frimley

My Gran

Although she works in the kitchen every time I see her, she does not smell like oil. Without her I would be as lost as a leaf getting blown away from a tree. Even now she works so hard, she is still nice as she can be.  Every time I see her she will be reading a book or cooking dinner.  She makes the best boil up with watercress, potatoes and meat.

She is such a friendly gran always has a hug, but she is still humorous as she can ever be. Even though she is physical, she likes to relax like a turtle. She is not flash, she is not rich but she is still really neat.

Every time I go to her house she says come and give me a hug and then says do you want some cookies or water and I say “Yes!”  Gran has a huge garden.  You can find her digging every day of the week.  Her garden is organic and composting is her specialty.  When she comes comes to my house, she’s relaxed and kind.  At Easter we trade chocolates.  She always gives me a bunny.

Sometimes when she is so tired, she just doesn't do anything and just sits down. When we go over to her house she always says how is your day and we always good! Every time she sees my sister she says you look like an angel and my sister says thank you. But she always says you look like a turkey and I always say, “Whatever! “

It is easy to see what she likes. She likes cooking, gardening and cleaning. Gran likes going to work because she sees her friends and cleans like she always does at home. Sometimes Gran listens to the radio and the music she mostly listens to the olden day songs.

Windmill farmer

              Windmill farmer
One day  I was planting, and a few miles away there was a terrorist storm coming my way.Over night I heard a smack and a bang it just kept pounding my house then it turned pitch black. I went outside it was terrifying I lost my hat then I got it back. Then my windmills started going nuts one went way up in the hills then every other windmill went up way way in the hills then I went doping back to bed.

I wne I looked at my ugly, old, worn clothes and my house but I was a complete pigsty. I got up in the morning and I swiped the snow of my porch I went outside it was a disaster.  It was blowing like mad, I was so puzzled because it was really fine yesterday. I lost my hat.  It went in a tree and I got it back in no time and my windmills were all going crazy, some broke and went up on the hill like most of them and and worst of all my garden was a disaster. went to bed so stunned and depressed. I thought I would die alone. I woke up in the morning and I was so touched because everything was back to normal as always. My garden even grew back overnight and same as my windmills. That day I went back to town and I got some new tools and started planting again.

The story of the snail and his sidekick bob the snail

The story of the snail and his sidekick Bob the snail.

One day in Bull town there lived two furious warriors. Called Snail and his sidekick, Bob the snail.
One time I was in my house and I yelled out “ah, a radish” it was in my bowl and snail said “I will save you, but my sidekick is sick.” Worm went over and ate the radish. I said “you are my hero” and snail said “see you soon”.
I went to Bull town and everybody gave me lettuce because of my bravery.

Two years later I saw my enemy called Banana Boat. For some reason he looked like a real boat, shaped like a banana.
It looks like it is going to end now, ‘’agreed’’ said banana boat, at the same time we both pulled out our cucumber’s and started shooting for our family and justice.

“Boof” you are down said the snail., It looks like I am getting my dignity back once again. I went home and I got even more lettuce because of my bravery and courage.
Snail had a great life and his sidekick was all goods.

When life hands you a bag of lemons, don’t make lemon juice make icing for your cake!

The big catch

One day a boy heard a human fishing and he only caught a little fish that was meant to feed his village.  He looked so sad and was desperate to get food. He packed up all his fishing gear and the he heard a rustle in the bush... he saw a fox.  He went up to it and sliced the rope.  The fox ran away and stood next to the fisherman's fish.  Suddenly, the fox took the fish and went zooming across the jungle under a thorn bush with the fish, the boy went crazy!  He was disappointed but he still tried to get the fish.  He went up a hill,  down a hill and through a thorn bush. At last he caught up with the fox but he felt a bit worried because he might of thought that the fox could do something dangerous.
When the boy caught the fox, he threw the little fish in the in the bush. The boy went over to get the fish before the fox. The boy picked up the fish and saw an extraordinary view.  He saw the biggest fish of his life leaping in the air. He was so eager to get that amazing fish straight away, but he could not find a stick to make a fishing rod because he left his fishing gear behind and had nothing to fish with.
Luckily, the fox got a stick from the bush. The boy was really happy and thankful, he got some line out of his pocket and a hook. He put it in the water and was determined to catch a fish. A couple of seconds later he got a  an a amazing fish and a little fish the size of his palm.  A few hours later he packed up and went home but he gave the fox the little fish the boy was really grateful and happy what the fox did for him.

Camp report

Intro
This is about Camp Kaitawa and other stuff like Lake Kiriopukae, my favourite thing I did at Camp Kaitawa and somthing I would like to do if I ever go back again which I would really love to.

Lake Kiriopukae
It takes 45 minutes to get to Lake Kiriopukae and 45 minutes return. Michael Noonan was a dispatcher guy which means he sends messages from Gisborne to Wairoa
to other people. Michael Noonan’s body is in the bush by his horse. Michael Noonan was riding his horse then suddenly his head got sliced off by a whip. Beside his grave is a nine month old baby that died on the 20th of June.

Next time I would like to do...
I would like to go to Lake Kiriopukae again because I got to run around it  a lot and I fell in the nice cold refreshing water and I got to do it with my friends.  It was really, really cold. I also want to do the confidence course again because I thought I couldn't do the big wall over and over again that is why I want to go back to Camp Kaitawa.

Conclusion
I would like to go back to Camp Kaitawa and do the confidence course, Amazing race, kayaking, Master chief and making fudge. These were my favourite parts of camp.

My Special place

My Special place is my batch because I can do stuff with my family like fishing, getting rock lobsters under a rock, playing rugby and sport with my family and friends. When I'm sometimes bored I go see people like Stefan, Ollie, George, jack and Angus at the Christian Camp down the road where he stays with his family and friends. Sometimes I go hunting in the middle of the night with my Dad and his friends and we get animals. We also go eeling and I get my fishing rod and Hamish my friend next door comes with me a lot. Sometimes they have dinner with my family. Most of the time  Hamish, Bridget, Shannon and I play spot light. Other times Stefan, Ollie, George, and Angus come over. Once Stefan asked if he could have a go on the motorbike and I said yes. Stefan did a humongous skid in our backyard.
