Wonder poster!

This is my Wonder poster. Room 20 have been reading this book and Mr M said we should make a wonder poster. I like it because it looks diffident and I like it.

BMX racers

Training Hard and fast chapter 5

• When I went to the beach I was determined to bike 2.5 and beat my record in 15 minutes.

• When my Dad was 16 and under he raced around New Zealand and was ranked 43 in Hawks bay under 16.

• When I was Six I got my first 2 wheel bike and a year later I did a jump and I failed. The next day I was all good and I did my first jump ever.

A typical day

• When I played rugby we had days of and we would practise on some days and if you were really good you travel around a lot ta places.

This story is about BMX racing and stuff like typical days. If you want to be a a famous BMX rider it takes hours and hours.

The Bittern

1 Because grandad did not drain out the swamp and many animals could not stay or live there.
2 Because the chickens were looking like they were head lice.
3 Grandad did care because animals would have know where to go or stay.
4 Because they care about the environment and the animals.
5 Grandad’s impact was not to drain the swamp because there would be no place for the animals to live ever again.

My Special place

My Special place is my bach because I can do stuff with my family like fishing, getting rock lobsters under a rock, playing rugby and sport with my family and friends. When I'm sometimes bored I go see people like Stefan at the Christian Camp where he stays with his family and friends. Sometimes I go hunting in the middle of the night with my Dad and his friends and we get animals. We also go eeling and I get my fishing rod and Hamish my friend next door comes with me a lot.

I infer that the team wasn't angry at Ina	because Miss Sami said i think you guys played as a team	because Miss Sami had her hands on the player's shoulder
lucy was feeling left out because Ina  took a shot at goal	because Lucy was closer to the hope then Ina	because lucy's face looked like she was going to cry

People went to climb Mount Everest with Sir Edmund Hillary	How people went and climbed Mount Everest with him?	He had 3 kids. 2 girls and 1 boy. The girls names are Sarah and Belinda and the boy is Peter. Peter has also climbed Mount Everest.

2. page 9.  fragment means? a part broken off or detached: scattered fragments of the broken toe
3. page 9   bone comb means? when people die they used their bones as hair brushes and weapons
4. page 12  fascinated means? to attract and hold attentively by a unique power
5. page 24  inscription means? something inscribed
6. page 13  rune means? letter of an early Germanic alphabet used in carve inscriptions
7. page 17  mournful means? your sad or sorry
8. page 24 eerie means? uncanny, so as to inspire superstitious fear weird: and eerie midnight howl.
9. page 28 boulder means?. big huge rocks that way 20kg or more.
10. page 17 superstitious means? you think somethings going on when your not sure

This is The Weeping Shadows. Mr M gave us a book to read and on some pages there were words we had to search for their meanings. We used the school dictionary, looked on the internet and we used the words above in blue writing.

Dear V.M.Jones,

Hi my name is Daniel, I think your book is extraordinary and funny. You have a lot of humor in your story. My class and I have just finished your story and all together I think it is mind blowing.
My favorite part of this story is when you let your brother come first over all. Oh, by the way you are right, having a race is not about winning, it is about having fun and sportsmanship.
My favorite chapter is “ The final Countdown.”

Something I find challenging was doing Diary of Dexter the Dog
This is my favourite art Autumn  

What I like about this is it is my favourite time of the year. At Windsor Park in Autumn there is a lot of leaves on the ground because of the big Oak trees.

I like playing these games:

• rugby
• dodge ball
• handball

I have learnt a lot of different skills playing these games.

My skills that I have learn't are team work, passing, ducking, dodging.

My favourite reading post is Why Somme's Island is so Special.

The thing that I found most challenging is writing Diary of Dexter the Dog.

Why is Somes Island so special?

Why is Somes Island so special ?               

Somes Island was used as an internment camp during the first World War . 
Army men were sheltered  at Somes Island in 1914 to 1918 .by Daniel.
The New Zealand company brought settlers to New Zealand from England by ship in the 1800s.  by  Daniel

During the 2nd World War, it was again used as an internment camp and anti-aircraft guns were placed on the island.

Once the island was called Matiu island and then it was called Somes island and now it’s called matiu/somes island.by Jacob.

And it had the first lighthouse built in the world it was built in 1866. by Jacob.
A new lighthouse was built on Somes island .by Jacob.
Maiut/Somes island is now letting people go to the island.by Jacob.
